The History Department (HIS) of the University of Brasilia was founded in 1986, after the fragmentation of the former Department of Geography, Philosophy and History. UnB's History course and the Graduate Studies in History emerged, however, prior to the department becoming autonomous. History course at UnB has been operating since 1969, having been recognized by Federal Decree No. 71,346 of November 9, 1972.

 

Almost 2,000 students have already taken degrees from the University of Brasilia. Students can study options on almost any part of of the Americas and Europe from the ancient Greeks to the present day.
